We aim to improve the overall health outcomes of LGBTQ+ youth within the Greater Fall River area by creating a space within our community to educate and support their overall wellbeing. By acting as a resource to our youth, we can empower youth to make healthy and positive lifestyle choices for better and brighter futures.

Our Impact

F.R. Pride has been incorporated since 2018 and have since increased the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community in Greater Fall River. We have also developed a safe space for LGBTQ+ families and allies to find support and culturally competent resources.



Why do LGBTQ+ youth need specialized care?

According to a recent report, approximately 48 percent of LGBT youth have considered suicide compared with 11 percent of the general population of young people. And, 25 percent actually attempted suicide. To read the report click here.



What are the risk Factors?

LGBTQ+ youth at a greater risk of depression, anxiety, and developing negative coping skills as a direct result of social influences and intolerance. For example, LGBTQ+ youth face significantly higher rates of bullying in school as well as, increased exposure of homelessness due to, living in intolerant households.




Culturally competent care matters!
LGBTQ+ youth face greater challenges seeking assistance. At F.R. Pride, you will find Staff that are able to support the needs of LGBTQ+ families and individuals alike. We take pride in being able to connect the community with skilled providers.

Expressive Therapy

Expressive arts therapy combines psychology and the creative process to promote emotional growth and healing.

Gender Identity

During adolescence, many young people need support and validation during this time of self-discovery. F.R Pride’s Gender Identity and Expression group will be a combination of education and mutual support, and will include ways to support and self-advocate.

Family SUpport

Family support and acceptance is critical to the health and wellbeing of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. At F.R. Pride we are here to help families in whatever way we can. We offer support groups both for parents, and multi-family groups which include parents and children together.

Coping Skills (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy. . Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, cope healthily with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others.

Healthy Sexuality

Healthy adolescent sexual development involves not only bodily changes, sexual behaviors, and new health care needs; it also involves building emotional maturity, relationship skills, and a healthy body image.

F.R. Pride is offering a Volunteer Internship Program. We have partnered with Bristol Community College, Bridgewater State University and the University of Massachusetts to offer matriculating students the opportunities to partake in non-profit development. Students will apply the skills acquired through their degree programs towards improving the overall health outcomes of the LGBTQ+ population.

Our Volunteer Internship Program is a 16 week, collaborative internship offered in the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic school year. Students will have the option to apply for dual semester admission.
